Brio

BRIO is one of the oldest wooden toy manufacturers in the world and has been around since the late 1800s. BRIO’s story began in 1884 when Ivar Bengtsson started selling woodchip baskets in Denmark. In the early 1900s Ivar and his wife moved to Osby, Sweden, where they expanded their product range and started creating and selling wooden toys for children. In 1908 the Bengtssons transferred the company over to their three sons who officially named the company BRIO - an acronym for the Ivarsson brothers of Osby (BRöderna Ivarsson Osby).

Under the directorship of the three brothers the company continued to flourish while keeping the focus on selling wooden toys for children. Over the years BRIO established itself as an internationally well known brand designing and creating many popular wooden toys like BRIO’s iconic train set. Having been the Purveyor to the Royal Court Of Sweden since the 1940s highlights BRIO’s continuity of extraordinary craftsmanship and quality products.
